Scotland Heat Map

The Scotland Heat Map shows heat demand estimates across Scotland. It also shows where there are existing and planned heat networks, existing and potential energy supply sources and other data.

Low carbon heat projects in Scotland

The map below displays low carbon heat projects in Scotland, primarily district heating networks.  If you operate or are developing a heat network or other low carbon heat project that is not on the map please contact us

This is a map showing all operational and in-development projects across Scotland. To find out more about any project, click its icon and click through on the link to view more.Operational project signifies a project that is operationalDevelopment project signifies a project that is in development

POTENTIAL HEAT NETWORK ZONES: FIRST NATIONAL ASSESSMENT

These maps were produced as part of the first national assessment of potential heat network zones published in April 2022. This analysis identifies potential zones for heat networks and provides some characterisation of these based on assessment of the heat demand. The maps provided here are a result of that study.

Map Title: Potential heat network zones identified across Scotland using the baseline screening criteria. Data is summarised as total heat demand that falls within each potential heat network zone.

Map ID: Nat-1B

Study Information: This map is produced as part of the Potential Heat Network Zones First National Assessment. This analysis uses the minimum baseline screening criteria which generates potential heat network zones using a 4000kWh/m/yr linear heat density and requiring at least two anchor loads within a heat network zone. For further details please refer to the "Potential Heat Network Zones First National Assessment" report provided alongside the document. All heat demand data is derived from the 2020 Scotland Heat Map.

Map Title: Potential heat network zones identified across Scotland using the stringent screening criteria. Data is summarised as total heat demand that falls within each potential heat network zone.

Map ID: Nat-1S

Study Information: This map is produced as part of the Potential Heat Network Zones First National Assessment. This analysis uses the stringent screening criteria which generates potential heat network zones using a 8000 kWh/m/yr linear heat density and requiring at least five anchor loads within a heat network zone. For further details please refer to the "Potential Heat Network Zones First National Assessment" report provided alongside the document. All heat demand data is derived from the 2020 Scotland Heat Map.
